Friendly news: Travel update and a cool new tech show

Hello Reader from your friend Jason, owner of Fido SEO and Jason Anthony Group.

This past quarter was a big one. I ventured out to the West Coast where I traveled over 1,000 miles down the coast of Oregon, looping back up through Portland.

It was a lot of fun and indescribably beautiful. I hiked to the tops of mountain. Stepped into waterfalls and truly soaked in nature. I spent a good bit of time in solitude, and met a bunch of interesting people along the way, making new friends (just like you).

In this issue: Q3 travel recap, a cool new tech show, gear and recommendations I am finding very useful and more.

JASON ANTHONY'S FRIENDS NEWSLETTER

Why you’re getting this: I'm Jason Anthony and this is my friendly newsletter. I send this out about once month or quarter to friends, clients and interesting people I'd like to keep in touch with. You can unsubscribe any time and I won't be mad. I won't even be notified.

Travel Recap

For as much travel around the world that I've done over the years, it's crazy to think I've never been to west coast (or seen the Pacific Ocean). So what better way to overcome that than hopping on a plane and exploring the Pacific North West (PNW)?

Which is exactly what I did. There is something so fulfilling about travel. Here's a breakdown of my trip:

Seattle - downtown and surrounding areas including some amazing hikes (Lake Serenity/Bridal Veil Falls).

Astoria - Stopped to see the Goonies house, of course.

Canon Beach - wow.

Lincoln City, Newport, and Florence (all the road trippin)

Portland for the night and back up to Mt Rainer scenic viewpoint before heading home.

Here's a rough outline of the trip (not including my ferry trip to Bainbridge Island.

Try New Tech

My amazing friend and colleague, Shannon J. Gregg, PhD and I started a new streaming show where we pick new technology, software/SaaS and AI offerings and provide byte-sized demos.

It's like unboxing videos for adults and we stream Tuesday mornings at 7:45am on Linkedin and Youtube.

Gear I'm Loving Right Now

Product recommendations are based solely on my personal experience with them. If you buy something through my link, I may earn an affiliate commission, at no extra cost to you. That little show of support helps me continue to provide helpful and free content for you. Thank you so much!

Working hybrid from home and in the city means it pretty essential to carry all my gear (gym, work and more) in an efficient way. I've had the same minimal wallet by NOMATIC for about 10 years now so it only made sense to check out their other thoughtfully designed products.

Here's what I currently use daily or throughout my week. If you like what you see, use this link to get $30 off your purchase.

Navigator RS Pack 15L

What I love about it - organization and storage are clutch. I can keep all my cords, chargers and items secure and within reach. It holds up to a 16" laptop in a compartment separate from my other items and has a hidden water bottle holder.

Toiletry Bag 2.0

What I love about it - Keeping on the organization theme, whether I'm at the gym or traveling I've found this to be the best toiletry bag I've used to-date. It's waterproof, all the compartments zip up and you can hang it with a hook in the shower if needed.

Shoe Cube

What I love about it - A shoe cube was something I never really put much thought into and as someone who loves packing cubes I was happy to add this into the mix (especially for my gym shoes and bag). Nicely designed and easy to clean/wipe out.

Random Links

CERN Confirms Ultra-Rare Particle Transformation, Hints at New Physics - with all the new tech news in the AI space this was pretty incredible to come across.

https://livekit.io/ - this is what OpenAI used to roll out their new voice chat functionality.

https://theuselessweb.com/ - get taken to a random useless website.

"It's not the blowing of the wind, it's the set of the sails." - Jim Rohn

The same wind falls upon us all: The winds of change, opportunity, fortune, disaster - it's not how the wind blows but how we set our sails is what's really important.

*Fun fact: I have a variation of this in one of my tattoos
